How does a hair transplant work?
A hair transplant is the process of extracting hairs from the donor zone (at the back of the head) then placing them in balding or thinning areas. The hairs at the back are permanent because they are insensitive to the Dihydrotestosterone (or DHT) hormone that causes hair loss.
The hairs are then collated and implanted back into the thinning areas (hairline or crown), and continue to grow for a lifetime, and can be cut or styled however you wish.
The procedure is all done under local anesthetic meaning minimal discomfort, takes just one day and the recovery is fast using our signature DHI method. Our expert team can guide you through a hairline design that enhances your features and proportions.
What is the difference between FUT, FUE and DHI hair transplants?
Not all hair transplants are created equal.
The first generation was called Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), also known as ‘strip surgery’. Here a flap of skin is sliced from the back of the scalp then sewn together. This is the quickest (and cheapest) hair surgery but requires stitches and often leaves a long scar.
Follicular unit extraction uses ‘punches’ up to 1cm to extract the donor hairs, which can leave a patchy appearance at the back. These are then ‘plugged’ into the hairline but do not appear natural in direction, and often lower density.
Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) is the most innovative hair transplantation method- exclusive to Clinique de Paris. The smallest tools are used (0.8mm), meaning minimal to no visible scar at the back. The hairs are then categorized and directly implanted into the area of concern using a patented tool. This allows the surgeon to control the angle, direction, and depth of each follicle.
The DHI technique allows for faster recovery, no visible scarring, maximum density hair restoration and the most natural-looking hairlines of all hair transplant techniques.
Is a hair transplant painful?
Overall, no. We use local anesthetic for a painless experience, and oral sedatives to allow you to relax completely or even fall asleep. This allows you to catch up on rest, leaving fresher than you arrived, and avoids the risks of general anesthetic.
It’s common to feel some ‘fullness’ in the hairline for a few days following the procedure with mild swelling, but rarely do patients require further pain medication.
How long is the recovery process/downtime?
After your procedure, our staff will give you full instructions regarding the post-op protocols used by all DHI clinics. You will have a bandage for just one day, then follow a 3 day spraying protocol with close instructions from the staff. All post op medications and instructions on how to care for the follicles will be provided to you.
It is normal to experience some swelling and scab formation, which will naturally resolve after one week. Most patients can return to computer work (e.g. work from home) by the next day. Returning to face-to-face work takes about a week. Light exercise can resume in one week, and should include a hat when outdoors.
By two weeks, the skin is fully recovered, and you can return to heavy exercise, swimming, and a haircut.
Will there be any scarring from the hair transplant?
No, we use patented micro tools (0.8mm and 1mm in diameter), which allow precision in extraction and implantation without disrupting the surrounding skin or causing visible scarring.
Unlike other hair transplantation techniques, we do not use any incisions, strips, or stitches, which means more natural-looking results and the ability to have short/fade cuts in the future!
How long does a hair transplant take?
The hair transplant procedure itself takes just a single day from beginning to end (approximately 8-10 hours). Our doctors are capable of undertaking large hair transplants - up to 10,000 hairs in a single day for select candidates. Our team will ensure your comfort during the day.
The hair will take a few months to naturally grow, and during this time our team will ensure adequate follow up to make sure all questions are answered, and satisfaction achieved.
Am I suitable for a hair transplant?
There are many types and causes of balding.

Can women have a hair transplant?
Yes of course, female pattern baldness is a genuine medical concern. We utilize the same technique of extraction and implantation to create designer hairlines for women or thicken the existing hair. For ladies, we do not require a full shave to extract the hairs, and our doctors are skilled at creating feminine and feathered hairlines to accentuate your features.

I’ve already had a hair transplant, can I have another one?
Yes. The DHI technique is an ideal complement to previous techniques to fill in gaps from traditional implantation methods. Many patients have experienced ongoing balding in a new area and want this filled. We can help since our extraction technique is minimally invasive, and our implantation aims for maximum density.
Up to 20% of our cases are ‘repair’ cases from other, older styles of hair transplantation (including FUT and FUE). These require special care and often achieve great results. We can also offer scar repair from previous ‘strip’ methods, using our micropigmentation service.
Who will perform the procedure?
Only certified DHI hair transplant surgeons will do the procedure from beginning to end - not technicians, and certainly not robots. How many hairs will I need?
During a consultation, we grade the severity of your balding using a standardized chart and use a magnified camera to examine the scalp and follicles. We offer sizes from 2,000 to up to 10,000 hairs for a single session. No two hairlines are identical, but are individually designed with technical precision and artistry.

Do I need to shave my entire head for the procedure?
No, the entire head does not need to be shaved. Only the donor area at the back of the head needs to be trimmed. With the DHI technique, the rest of the hair remains untouched. This limited-shave approach makes DHI ideal for individuals who prefer a discreet procedure, including women and men with longer hair.

Platelet Mesotherapy (PMT) & Exosomes
What is a PMT treatment?
PMT is short for Platelet Mesotherapy, which is a type of hair stimulating treatment using platelets. This treatment uses your body's own regenerative power to push your hair follicles to grow, a process known today as regenerative medicine.
It involves a small (~10ml) blood extraction which will be the source of this treatment. This is then centrifuged to harvest the plasma: the watery part of your blood and rich in growth factors. This plasma is then directly applied to your scalp by using our special Mesotherapy device, an advanced European technology used to make this procedure completely painless.
The treatment itself takes 45 minutes, with no downtime or bruising making it the perfect lunch time treatment.
What is an exosomes treatment, and how is it different from PMT?
Exosomes are nanoparticles that naturally exist in the body and signal collagen and hair follicle growth. Our exosomes treatment contains 10 billion exosomes, as well as additional peptides to stimulate hair growth over time. These are ethically sourced, from humans (not plants), making them the safest and most effective on the market.
The exosomes treatment has the benefit of standardized cell counts, potent hair and collagen growth. Since the genetic material from the cells has been removed, there is almost no risk of allergy or reaction.
Plasma on the other hand involves just your own platelets and growth factors. The combination of plasma and exosomes is shown to accelerate hair growth results.

When can I expect to see results?

I’m scared of needles, does it hurt?
Our nurses and doctors are experts at extracting the required volume of plasma, as well as distributing it back to the scalp using our patented mesotherapy device. Most patients describe 1-2/10 discomfort and some even fall asleep during the relaxing treatment.

Is there any downtime after the treatment (ex: activity limitations, swelling, bruising)?
Thanks to our Mesotherapy device from Europe, our PMT and exosomes treatments are painless and have no downtime. You will not get any bruising or swelling from these treatments.
However, we advise you to avoid head washing for 12 hours, which allows the plasma to absorb into the scalp. You may resume head washing the next day.
Can these treatments be done for my facial skin instead of my hair?
Yes, they can. Both PMT and Exosomes can be done for the face, and they enhance the collagen layers of the skin by growth factor stimulation.
The result is a tighter, more hydrated skin tone which can reduce some fine lines without needing more advanced skin injectables. Hair will not grow where there are no roots.
